You're asking a theory or model Q, not a LAMMPS Q.
I suggest you read the granular DEM literature to
see what models people use.

Dear all,

In granular simulation, when the tangential force exceeds the coulomb limit, the force is set equal to the Coulomb limit. Now, experimentally it has been observed that particle loses 20% of the stored energy when it slips, as dynamic friction is less than the sliding friction. So does it mean that the tangential force should be restored to some percentage of the maximum force rather than the Coulomb limit when a slip event occurs.

Can someone shed some light on this.

Help will be appreciated.

thanks
